Maui Film Festival - Part 2

GOOD LUCK CHUCK, from Lionsgate Films, played at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center's Castle Theater on the first night of the festival. We stood in line with our tickets, eager to see this charming comedy starring Jessica Alba and Dane Cook. A man announced that no small children would be allowed in due to the adult nature of the movie. Shortly after getting seated in the comfy theater, the feature began and we were told to stick around to talk with the director afterwards. The film was funny and entertaining judging from the crowd's reaction, and I laughed long and hard. The stars had a good chemistry and really make this movie work. True enough, director Mark Helfrich stepped out on stage to answer any questions from the audience. Turns out he grew up on Oahu, and this is his first time directing, after years of editing. It was filmed in Vancouver, Canada, and will be released worldwide late in Semptember, probably with an R rating. Go and see if it you get a chance.
